This Mandela Day, Hillbrow Radio joined us at Port Plein Park to capture the heartwarming moments that made the day so special.
The morning began with a scenic open-top ride on the iconic red City Sightseeing bus, setting the tone for a day of giving back. In partnership with 67 Blankets for Nelson Mandela Day, City Sightseeing South Africa, and Stuttaford Van Lines, we adorned the park with vibrant, hand-knitted scarves lovingly crafted by the KnitWits. Trees, play areas, and fences became canvases of colour and care.
Adding to the warmth, the United Ethiopian Community Association in South Africa prepared and served a hearty soup to community members.
A big thank you to the MMID Park Rangers and Urban Space Management for keeping the park clean, and to the Inner City CPF and SAPS for ensuring a safe and welcoming environment.
It was a true celebration of unity, service, and humanity.
