Relaunch of the JICTA

The relaunch of the Joburg Inner City Tourism Association (JICTA) took place at the beautiful rooftop bar of the Reef Hotel on Friday 17 November 2017.

“Tourists want authentic experiences!” CEO of SA Tourism Sisa Ntshona.

For this reason the JICP has created a Tourism Directory with a list of Walking and Cycling tours across Johannesburg. These tours are aimed at engaging with communities and getting a real sense of the place.

Walking and cycling tours appeal to the trend of #ExperienceHunters, a term that Dion Chang of Flux Trends introduced at the COJ Entrepreneur Symposium on 23 & 24 October 2017.

The next steps for the newly relaunched Joburg Inner City Tourism Association is to form an interim board to set out a 2019 strategy, action plan and framework.

The Joburg Inner City Tourism Association will work in collaboration with SA Tourism, Gauteng Tourism and Joburg Tourism.

The aim is to host the first AGM in June 2019.

Interim Chair of the JICTA, Isaac Chalumbira of Lion Share has pledged a R100,000 Journalism Award that will be judged by the JICTA for a journalist who has written stories or articles that have promoted and improved the perception of the Inner City.

The interim secretary for the JICTA is Silvana Pearson and can be contacted for further information on silvana@lionshare.co.za
