Introduction
The Johannesburg Inner City Partnership (JICP) is a Public Benefit Organisation (PBO) established in 1996 to transform the heart of Johannesburg into a cleaner, safer, and more inclusive space where people can live, work, and thrive. Partnering with the City of Johannesburg, private sector players, academia, and civil society, JICP delivers people-based urban regeneration by tackling some of the city’s most pressing challenges: crime, poverty, unemployment, poor infrastructure, homelessness, and limited public services.
JICP’s approach is values-driven — built on reciprocity, transparency, accountability, and mutual respect. It plays a catalytic role in enabling local and international strategic partnerships, building local economies, creating jobs, and regenerating neglected urban spaces into places of opportunity.
